CATL and Volkswagen (VW) are also closely collaborating with regard to the development of current and future battery-powered e-vehicles. CATL developed a 12V low-voltage cell with a start / stop system for VW. This new automobile with CATL battery will be launched to the global market within 2017.Currently, CATL is competing with several battery suppliers for new VW MEB electric vehicle platform.
At this great auto show, CATL also announced its new plan of opening a new branch office in Paris, France, which will be launched at late September or early October. “We are collaborating closely with our partners. Automotive manufacturers such as VW, BMW, and Daimler as well as others are important to us for their input as they know what car buyers are looking for. At the same time, OEMs have recognized that they need to invest in the development of electric vehicles just as more – or even more – than in other technologies,” said Matthias Zentgraf, President, European Business at CATL.
The Chinese company is investing significantly in the further development of its Lithium-Ion batteries.
